About us

I started Forestr because I realized that the world my four children are growing up in already looks very different from the one I was born into. Climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental degradation are no longer distant problems, they are shaping the reality of the next generation. I want to be able to tell my children that I not only tried not to make things worse, but that I actively worked on making them better again.

I deeply admire organizations like Natuurpunt, The Nature Conservancy, and many others that have dedicated themselves to protecting nature. But if we rely solely on philanthropy and donations, nature conservation risks remaining a niche effort, while the scale of the challenge requires something much bigger.

To truly make conservation and regeneration mainstream, nature must become part of our economic system instead of existing outside of it. That means creating models where forests and ecosystems are not only protected for their ecological value, but also recognized as investable assets capable of generating sustainable revenue streams.

That is why we founded Forestr: to help make nature an investable, revenue-generating asset, and to align financial incentives with the restoration and protection of our natural world.
